We have a plan … for 2025 production. 2026 at the latest.

Bubble Campers are new-century versions of mid-20th century caravans, and are based on the Westfalia caravan which was designed and built in Germany from wood and steel.

Bubble Campers are light, bright, character-filled camping spaces that cocoon those who rest and sleep in them. Their retro-rounded shapes draw looks of appreciation from passers-by.

  • Bubble Campers will be built in South Africa
  • They will be constructed using the latest fibre build technology for lightness and strength.
  • Bubble Campers are 3 meters long excluding tow mechanism.
  • Bubble Campers weigh in at about 600 kg unloaded.
  • They are based on unbraked systems due to weight but can be upgraded to a braked system if requested.
  • If loaded weight (GVM) is less than 750 kg, a driver with a B license can legally tow a Bubble Camper
  • Vertical space allows six-foot adults to stand up in the middle of van.
  • There is a vent at top, and two opening windows front and back
  • LED lighting inside, and outside; plugs and USB ports
  • Storage in the front for water, tools, firewood, solar system/battery etc
  • Vertical cupboard with shelves or hanging space
  • Kitchen designed to be stored inside Bubble, but used outside
  • Tent with three sides constructed from ripstop canvas with telescoping aluminum poles.
  • There is plenty of storage at head height, and also in the cupboards and under the beds.
  • Sleeps two to four (a bunk can be installed for small children, on request)
  • Although the bed isn’t an island bed, the mattress is a full 20 cm high foam comfy nest for rest and recuperation while on holiday
  • Storage under double bed – tip up base allows access with assistance of gas struts.
  • If preferred, the double bed converts to banquette with table.
  • An off-road version, ‘Safari Bubble’, is in development with raised and strengthened chassis and larger tyres while retaining the classic comforts.
  • Bubble Campers will be easy to store – either outdoors, or under carport covers – they aren’t susceptible to wood rot or leaking panels like conventional build caravans
  • Bubble Campers will be well insulated for temperature and sound – like a small yacht
  • Clients can either receive their Bubble Camper as a shell to decorate themselves, or choose from three styles (more information to follow).
  • Clients will become part of the Bubble Camper Club and receive a quarterly newsletter, access to a community of Bubble buyers, receive discounts on future purchases and benefit from a referrals system.
